Basic Points for Compound Bow Archery

1.        Basic Standing Appearance

The basic standing appearance of compound bow archery' is: body upright, containing a bosom, pulling back, stacking shoulder, accepting stomach, turning to the target with the head naturally, the eyes inspect smoothly, the neck muscles relax naturally. We can combine our own stability characteristics, take parallel, stand for exposed or concealed method.

If we keep a consistent standing appearance, We can achieve human being`s and bow`s integration. And it is good for us to feel whether the symmetric force is equal front and back. It is also helpful for the straight force controling method.

 

2. Putting up the arrows

Putting up the arrows on the compound bows: We can make the nocks be close to the strings and insert in the arrows buckle according to personal habits and different arches structures. We can use the string nock positioning clamp(single screw fixed string cards and double screw fixed string cards) and insert the nock into the clamp directly, then we put the arrow shafts on the arrow pad.

The arrows can put through the centre of the arch first, put the arrow shafts on the arrow taps, and then insert the nocks on the arrows.

When we insert the nocks into the string, we should pay particular attention to the placement direction of the feathers. The direction of the feathers should be placed according to the different forms of the arrow taps and arrow support.

Supporting arrow taps with opening taps, we should put the primary feathers down as the feathers can pass away smoothly.

Supporting arrow taps with closed taps, we should put the primary feathers up as two secondary feathers can get through the taps easily.

For pulled up arrow taps, inertial arrow taps and penetrating arrow taps, we should keep consistent direction when pulling up the arrows everytime regardless of the feathers` directions.

 

3. Release for Hook Strings

Method for using clamp release: index finger stay trigger to let the jaw open, the jaw aim at the nock lanyards(d loop), recover the jaw and the clamp close.

Use clamp release with a safety device: pull the jaw open, press coverage, let the jaw align to the lanyard, and clamp jaw with the fingers.

Method for using hook release and the corner (it was also known as "back-Afterburner") release: reset the hook, we can directly hang bow string nock lanyard with hook.

 Method for using the lanyard hook release: first restore the hook head, help the lanyard get through the bow string nock and fold back with fingers or set in the lower string of arrow tails directly, and then set back the release lanyard on the release hook, lift release lanyard so as to not fall off. 

We need to pay special attention to the following questions when using the release hook:

1)  We should check whether the jaw is closed, the hook is reset, the lanyard are secure before we use.

2)      When use wrist strap release, the velcro must be fasten.

3)      Using a handheld release, we should hold real as far as possible to avoid falling off when opening the bow.

4)      Using a hook release or lanyard hook string release, the lanyard must be into the end of the slot by the hook.

5)      When hook the jaw of the clamp release, the force direction of the jaw must be longitudinal parallel with string nock lanyard.

 

4. The Direction and Support of pushing the Bow

The correct position of pushing hand on the compound bow is: tiger push upright into the arch, big fish muscle support, it is better with the more stable, clear and smaller contact surfaces.

Correct way to push the bow is: bone support, muscle relaxation at their best. The focal point of the bow handle converts to the wrist through pushing bow hands and big fish muscle. Relax the wrist and fingers` strength, make the strength convert through small arms to a buckle elbow to elbow and the arm until the shoulder joint, fuelled by falling shoulder bow to become support. The support of the pushing bow arm equals to the strength of pulling up the bow.

 

5. Lifting bow, opening bow

Basic way of putting forth strength for lifting and opening the bow:

1) The arm with the bow pushes directly and straightly. Level direct push the bow arm, turning the body to use the back muscle to drive the arm opening the bow to pull back until pull the reduction focal point to the stop line. Converting to the back muscle strength by adjusting the directions of lifting bow.

2) Pushing the bow arm direct push holding with open bow arm lifted and both arms push backward extension, reduct focal point back to the stop line, converted to back muscle strength.

3) We can bend the forearm and hold the breath when opening a compound bow. The bow-opening arm and the bow-holding arm use both pull and push explosive power to open the bow. We can adjust the symmetry strength through the reducing point to the stop line.

 

6. The control of the symmetrical force front and back

Basic method of symmetrical force control: after opening the bow, we should adjust the abdominal breath body gravity and alignment direction. The shoulders stay and the arms relax moderately. We can keep the symmetrical force front and back through the support of the forearm bone and the strength of the back muscle. The force pushing bow by the front hand equals to the force release hook string by back hand. 

The front and back symmetrical force should coordinate appropriate and maintain moderate. We can`t be over-relaxation which may result in retraction. We also can not use too much power which may change the structural principle of the equipment.

Controling the symmetrical force is closely related to the correct using of release.

The methods of using a wrist strap release: We should maintain the symmetrical force by hanging wrist buckle elbow. Try not to squeeze the grip scattering device. We can experience the symmetrical force of the before anchor and back stress point clearly. On the other hand, we can master the way of separate the symmetrical force and pulling trigger force in a short time.

The method of using a handheld release: maintain the position grip on the release after opening bow in place. We can also relax the strength of hands` back and fingers. Ensure the front and back symmetrical force in the premise of without retraction.

 

7. Positioned by strings

After pulling the compound bow, on the base of controling moderate symmetrical force each time, using the back muscle to drive the back elbow and forearm. Make the shoulder as an axis, let the bow string at the same jaw point everytime.

We can install lip bead and nasal bead on the compound bow string according to the rules. The position by string must be clear, consistent and with moderate weight. And the control of the symmetrical force can not be changed.

The form of large straight line is the forearm pushing point, the release hook point, the bow-opening arm and the elbow tip longitudinal in a straight line.

Small straight line performance the straight line of the role in the release hook string point of the forearm pushing point and the back hang wrist or holding the force point.

 

8. Targeting

The basic method of compound bow`s targeting is: adjusting the breathe, spiting and holding breath evenly. Putting the aiming mirror right by the back sight windows of the string. We can control the hole of the string`s back sight windows and the cylindrical of the aiming mirror to be equal and in the middle as far as possible. On the base of keeping symmetry and facing, we take the aiming point of the aiming mirror center to the target.

The basic steps of the targeting process are: firstly, we must hold our breath. Secondly, we should put our fingers close and access to the trigger or firing device of the release. Thirdly, we should maintain the straight front and back symmetry to avoid distortion.

The precise targeting way of the compound bow is: after opening the bow, we can use the aiming mirror to pre-sight the target through the support of the forearm(aim at the upper position of the target finally), use back arms, stacking shoulder, front hand, back hand, back elbow(or the loading point of the release) to keep controling the symmetry line after reduction of the force.

 

9. Pull the trigger of the release or firing device

After targeting, bend the trigger or firing device under the premise of the front support and back pulling symmetry separated with the fingers force when pulling the trigger according to different releases.

The methods of using scattering angle release: on the one hand, we can transform the release`s angle by back muscles. On the other hand, we can achieve the scattering angle release to put the arrows by using index finger`s force, maintaining the shaft through middle finger, forcing through ring finger and little finger.

Some particular notice should be paid attention to: we can not pull the trigger too much or beat it. The fingers must force to pull the trigger and keep separated with the front support and back pulling symmetry.

 

10. Closing form

The inertia direction of the bow is the right front after the arrow cosine. The hands positions of the release are different based on the ways of large straight line and small straight line of the symmetry we use.
